f|break: eyebomb away

seen it, been there, done that - eyebombing.

my first encounter ... on the streets of san francisco, i spotted what i later learned was eyebombing (explained here).
(cute)
and after that day, i became much more aware of prime eyebomb real estate, spotting several victims (even outside of san francisco) over the course of a few weeks.

my turn ... shortly thereafter, let's just say that i live near a crafts store, and i quickly learned that one must remember to purchase the peel and stick version, which comes in several sizes (like the cute ones over here), so that you can keep them in your wallet.

not just for public space ... while eyebombing's goal of "humanizing the world one googly eye at a time" is awesome for public spaces, it's equally enjoyable for personal touches. this was evident after my greeting card effort for a friend and my boston terrier socks adornment. in fact, for new year's day, my squirrel socks were treated to eyebombing.

beyond bite-sized ... my stash of googly eyes fits nicely in my purse, wallet, lipstick holder, etc. however, this christmas, the family got me a pair of giant googly eyes (via archie mcphee) - a pair that i can't quite shove in my hip pocket. (woohoo!)
there's an app for that ...  yup, turns out, if i want to googly eye a picture, guess what? there's an app for that by anglesong creations llc over here for the android phone, as well as for iOS over here.

REFRESH shirlnutkin

button
pressed

25 things*

curious discoveries ... with each turn of a new year, self-reflection continues because of my curious discoveries mindset that i carry around.

2013 is generally no different, as i do a few tweaks of my 2012 mash-up for 2013.

my 2012 mash-up ... when i approached 2012, i did so inspired by pulling together elements of my your heart's desire (or the "YHD" thing i've done since 1999) + 3 words via chris brogan + tiny habits via bj fogg and behavior design.

mid-year(ish) readjustment ... within a few months of 2012, i pursued trimming down my mash-up and memorialized this as part of my springtime thanks. from spring cleaning, several activities, interests, and topics jumped out as being more prevalent than others - anthrocubeology, improvisation, servant leadership, and shirlnutkin-ness (aka the random sh** i find entertaining and thought-provoking). oddly, however, my blogging frequency definitely diminished through the year.

2013 refresh and reignite ... given some math and a calendar, 2013 is my half-century mark, as well as a 50 by 50 fluevog goal. as i approach my 10 core YHD areas -
  • health and body
  • finances
  • relationships
  • home
  • creative expression
  • work
  • spiritual
  • travel and adventure
  • special intentions
  • possessions
- by infusing each with my 3 words for 2013 -
  • deliberate
  • expressive
  • shift
- framed as part of my tiny habits "after ..., i will ...", i am looking forward to being more mindful of this shirlnutkin blog, contributing to for the love of vogs, and building upon anthrocubeology. and along the way, a little more eyebombing ...

f|break: THANKS @marcmaron

for my #boomerlives women's XL brown t-shirt. and i REALLY mean THANKS!!! your offering a women's XL did not result in my grumbling about purchasing a men's sized t-shirt that would fit meh.

boomer on my chest ... i proudly wore my BOOMER LIVES! t-shirt to cubeopolis (work) on casual friday. (... with boomer story shared here, herehere, and here about the t-shirt)

boomer on my boobs ... one thing that was quite obvious was that boomer's ears lay atop my boobs. while it might have been somewhat entertaining to make his ears wiggle for friends and strangers throughout the day, i opted to forego that exercise (for the most part). meanwhile ...

boomer on our minds ... it turns out that one thing was NOT QUITE as obvious and discovered sometime just before lunch. rather than describe it, enjoy(? ... with some muffin-top) ...

enjoy a quick morning fiber break with boomer (over here) for ~ 20 seconds

#improv with @endgames_improv

on the other side ... of the bay area over here.

with fancy ladies,
two man Harold team,
aka guillermo martinez (L) and james folta (R)
(taken the week of james's NYC journey  ...
tear)
thanks guillermo and james ... for seven saturday afternoons throughout september and october (or six ... i missed a class, but y'get the point), i drove into SF, parked at dogpatch (occasionally had ice cream at mr. and mrs. miscellaneous), 22-muni'd to the mission, had more and new improv stuff introduced through my earholes and grey matter, hung out here/there with fellow classmates over drinks, and then 22-muni'd back to dogpatch, etc... . at the end of october, i finished up with improv i (essentials of play) from endgames improv.

straddling the bay ... i continue to love hanging with the made up theatre (MUT) "hotties" (wink-wink) and other MUTrs. MUT's location is quite convenient and neary my nutkin abode - located nearby in the east bay in fremont. toward the end of summer, i learned i didn't make MUT's first performance group. with MUT's suggestions of continuing to -
"keep up with improv, take classes (even outside of MUT), see shows ..."
- i continued with other MUT classes and took their advice. i checked out shows, looked to see what improv classes were offered throughout the bay area, found a saturday class, and decided to venture to SF's mission district on saturdays. for three hours each saturday, i gots me more improv fodder from guillermo and james, and i played with a bunch of new people (although steph is missing in the pic).

vampire pony express (VPEdebuts ... our improv grad show, which was originally scheduled in late october at stage werx, had to be rescheduled. as a result, yesterday evening, sunday, november 11 at 6:00 pm, was our rescheduled AND relocated show at the alcove theater near union square.
BEFORE
50% of VPE ... unfortunately, of the 16 of us from the endgames improv i, fall 2012 (saturday) class, not all of our fellow improvisers (and an instructor) were able to join for the performance. we certainly missed their energy, spontaneity, and bold choices!

AFTER
(and introducing half of the ... Vampire Pony Express

50 by 50 = math meets #fluevog

thanks @Fluevog ... for continuing to feed my eyeballs with shoe love that translates to happy feet and then some.

back in october 2010, after purchasing my first two pairs in late 2008, i took my first inventory of Fluevogs - thirteen pairs of Fluevog shoes and your fabulous weekend bag - and i was not quite sure how far my love would travel.

thirty-four (or thirty-seven, depending on how one counts) ... as the "Madam" of MotleyFlue with For the Love of Vogs, this nutkin shall cross the half-century mark and wonders whether 50 by 50? countdown to halloween 2013 shall become a reality. given the support of the MotleyFlue and others, it is likely that 50 by 50 is a possibility, and then again ...

it's all about the journey,
a few steps at a time

(with a Fluegasm here and there, of course)
