shiny penny chat

as learned from @jeffmiller79 @greenleafcenter academy class (applying the key practices of servant leadership) authentic conversations, one of the required readings of the class, is a way of differently engaging in workforce conversations -
the decision to engage in adult-adult conversations rather than parent-child relationships
and about 2-3 months ago, shiny penny shared the foundation/framework of authentic conversations with others.

talk to me ... shiny penny is at it again - sharing with others about communicating, conversing, and engaging. however, this time he's looking at others' perspectives, approaches, and actually more tips and techniques - and different from authentic conversations. he asked if i would share a few i have come across in my readings. while some of the following do incorporate similar approaches as described in authentic conversations, each has a certain point of view - so here goes, shiny penny -
 enjoy preparing
for your next presentation

PR nutkin'rs - epi 3

#ProjectRunway ... SPOILER. we prepped (over here) and got the point system out of the way (over here).

after episode 3, there are only 13 (thirteen) designers left. and so the PR nutkin'rs game begins heading into episode 4.

heading into episode 4, these are the remaining designers
more about each at lifetime's PR site over here

about epi3 ... while the recaps tell it better, the 14 designers after episode 2 were paired up (keys, lexus cars in car colors, blah-blah criteria) and were tasked with designing an emmy red-carpet-worthy dress for one of seven past PR designers.

designers from the past? ... here they are below, with links to T LO's posts on ripping their collections -
anya | mila | irina | april | valerie | laura | kenley

my reaction to the episode ... yes, i watched it - as i tired of the episode. i won't recap it because MANY OTHERS do it so well. i'll just say that in addition to the requisite drama interpersonal development, i also was hoping to see more about the dress design, construction, interaction with past designers, etc ... no. none. denied. also, i totally would have loved to see more of laura and april - and not the sourpuss scenes. (thank goodness kenley was pleased; i would not be able to survive her whining - i'm just guessing she'd whine, right?)

by the time we got to the judges, i watched just so i could relate to whatever recapping bloggers would share. in the end, i was not a fan of one of the pairs who made it into the top 2. and i realized that i tired of whatever program editing is conducted (although i am sure the editors must tire of editing!).

recaps ... check out those who recap for hilarity, snark, wit, and straight-talk about each episode. and i will update this post if any of the bloggers add posts for episode 3.

david dust didn't catch all of episode 3 so no recap for epi 3

tom & lorenzo multi-posts of episode 3 include:

no merpes on-line

dating ... yes @ecosmiley @jenimvt & pho queen - thanks to pho queen's facebook challenge comment about my recent haircut -
"you should go on a date and get laid with your new haircut. no merpes"
~ pho queen
- this pumpkin will join in on-line dating (again), with one of my mini-goals of no merpes (of course).

dating blog fodder ... stay tuned for shares and insights i gain from the experiences and date tidbits (e.g., phone chats, email exchanges, impolite remarks made, being encouraged to exit a slowly moving car, etc.), however, there will be no names (but maybe monikers) and no pictures (but maybe my cartoon renderings).

i am older than pho queen ... i will be 49 years old in october, math and time tell me i will hit  F I F T Y  next year. no ex-husbands. no kids. no jail time. no comas. no around-the-world travel. single. back in march 2011, i shared celebrating age as part of yvette francino's 2011 the love project. (and actually, yvette, has been a columnist/dating adviser at examiner.com)

pho queen is just over 30 (not quite yet in her mid-30s), yet she also is well-versed on the '80s - which keeps our conversations fresh (for whatever fresh '80s means).  as part of thinking about age and dating,  back in 2011, pho queen shared her words of wisdom (with a bit of tongue in cheek) with me - her thoughts about my dating older (vs. younger) men -
  • a lot of experience in the bedroom (sookie sookie)
  • higher maturity level (hopefully!)
  • is looking to "settle down" with you (hopefully!)
  • if a divorcĂ©e with kids, kids will likely accept you because they are >18 yrs old ("adult kids")
  • think willem dafoe status ... he could be hot
  • he's a writer/blogger extraordinaire!
  • he thinks penguins are cute, too
  • he lives in the east bay somewhere
- and yes, pho queen ALSO has words of wisdom about dating younger men. will save that for another post.

think it matters - older or younger men?
what say ... do share.

PR nutkin game prep

#ProjectRunway ... as we prepped (over here) for heading into episode 3 of project runway, there were 14 (fourteen) remaining designers.

at the beginning episode 3, these were the remaining designers
see more about each at lifetime's PR site over here
getting ready for epi 4 and game ... this post is for shirlnutkin'rs playing the PR nutkin game - info about the point system, status on reward(s), and monikers - a reminder about designers' monikers given by other bloggers so players can become familiar with the designers.
  • row 1
    • 1 - alicia ... sapphic sister with the dreads
    • 2 - andrea ... professor cat lady
    • 4 - buffi ... buffi the taste slayer, betsey johnson on acid
    • 5 - christopher ... costello-lite (as in michael costello)
    • 6 - dmitry ... ballroom dancer
    • 7 - elena ... the other freaky chick
    • 8 - fabio ... freegan, dumpster hipster
  • row 2
    • 1 - gunnar ... evil gay, quentin w. sweetcrackers
    • 2 - kooan ... frokeman
    • 4 - melissa ... goth ashley-kate
    • 5 - nathan ... earnest dude in nerd glasses
    • 6 - raul ... (hmmm ... didn't catch a moniker for him)
    • 7 - sonjia ... tootie
    • 8 - ven ... jedi master of designers, rami of the season
PR nutkin game among shirlnutkin'rs ... a few shirlnutkin'rs have already chosen who they think will win, who will be the final 3 (or 4), who will have a meltdown (as described on lifetime's PR blog and on TLo's post over here), and "who will go first between person X and person Y" predictions. and before each episode, each shirlnutkin'rs choses who s/he thinks will win and will be AUF'd.

point system ... well, it's gonna look/read complicated, but it's not. it's just adding and subtracting. plus point(s) for choosing correctly, minus points if your winner is AUF'd before his/her time, and even more minor points if you reverse the order of who wins and loses on an episode. keeping in mind that i will do the math each week, here you go -
  • STARTING OUT: just because you are plahing, ADD TEN points
  • WINNER: if your winner is prematurely AUF'd, MINUS ONE point beginning the episode your winner is AUF'd and for each episode afterwards (until episode 10)
  • FINAL 3 (or 4): if your final three remains, ADD ONE point each episode they remain (and this includes your bonus person).
  • DRAMA FUGITIVES: if your primary two flee, ADD FOUR points. if a primary and your bonus flee, ADD TWO points. if one of your primary picks fled, ADD ONE point.
  • PAIR 'EM UP: if you chose correctly, ADD ONE point.
  • EACH EPISODE WINNER & LOSER: if you chose winner only, ADD ONE point. if you chose loser only, ADD ONE point. if you chose both correctly, ADD TWO points. if your winner and loser pair were reversed, MINUS THREE points.
reward(s) ... still not clear on what the reward(s) will be  an be from the PR lifetime shop. let's decide how we'll treat/shop for ourselves.

send in your survey picks ... get it outta the way - just make your picks. you can re-adjust after episode 9. sure that is six episodes away, but hey ... it's just a reality t.v. show on lifetime.

recaps ... meanwhile, don't forget to check out those who recap.
