#love2011: week 6 in progress

love notes ... here is my love note thanks to yvette for creating the love project.

secret valentine fun ...
this week's assignment, love notes, is happening during a secret valentine's effort at cubeopolis. i am having fun checking out the love note messages and decorations others are leaving for their secret valentine. throughout this week, we are decorating and leaving little gifts for our secret valentine. next monday on valentine day, those participating will spend a little breakfast potluck and share stories about their secret valentine fun. we also will have a fund time "un-secreting" ourselves. (pics later for that effort) i'll be excited to see what next week's love project assignment will be!

my un-secret here ... i am pretty certain (99.97%) that my secret valentine is not aware of my blog. if she is ... surprise! otherwise, yesterday morning's offering to my secret valentine ... a little wooden toy massager (which likely is going to be a cubeopolis knick-knack) and a cute pez bear dispenser, that i believe has pez (oops, better check!).

the card is made by the arc of alameda county.
i realized after i packaged up my secret valentine gift giving, the card was made by clients of arc. i purchased a package of their cards over holiday from paddy's coffee shop, a long-term supporter of several community organizations.
from this, i decided to donate to the arc on behalf of my secret valentine - and am reminding myself that love notes can be for groups of people - fabulous organizations that help the community!
thanks, love project,
for reminding me about
the love that others also provide to community.

psa: it's wear red day ...

go red! ... with #healthmonth in mind, i'll be sporting a red dress today, and i donated to the american heart association to acknowledge and support efforts for fighting heart disease.

your turn? ... it's simple and worthwhile.

one of my goals this year is ... to have a healthier lifestyle where i stop paying pharmaceuticals (by the end of 2011) for my bad eating and inactivity habits.

i have already created several healthier habits - better eating habits, more activity and exercise, and continued spiritual activities. health month is the flagship of my efforts, while dovetailing with other activities - president's challenge and betterU. and as part of my activities, FABULOUS support from friends!

health month side bar ... my february rules have been locked in. i've kept the majority of my january rules with a few changes, AND i've replaced habits i've developed with new rules and objectives, including learning to minimize gluten, processed food, and high fructose corn syrup.

back to go red ... here are some of the links from the "receipt" email you'll get when you donate -
update ... today's red dress
with a nice heart-shaped locket.

and thanks to

the betterU program

movember, moustaches, and ...

men's health ... although this year i caught-up with this effort mid-stream in november, it's a must share. Movember is - as stated on its website -
"The 'Mo', slang for moustache, and November come together each year for Movember.

Each Movember we challenge men to change their appearance and the face of men's health by growing a moustache. The moustache is our ribbon, the means by which we raise awareness and funds for cancers that affect men. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, our commitment is to grow a moustache for 30 days. Funds raised benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG. "
well, my friend has a friend in the U.K. who is participating, and there are many others. i have a college buddy who has prostate cancer. i care about him.

do care enough to donate over here
